Anytime a bomb attack takes place in India, there are so many comments and 'expert' opinions from the 'bhajiwali' to the NSA. This cursed country will continue to be an easy target as long as we do not strictly follow the laws of the land; whether they are of traffic rules, tax laws, building laws, 'red-beacon light on my car' laws or whatever. In this country there are very insignificant few who want to obey every law sincerely. Most of us are in 'break every law' mode. We have been raise so. We pay bribes; our business contracts are shady and not transparent [ADARSH HOUSING and others unreported]; I can park my car anywhere in the city and go away; if I am fined, I either call my police friend or bribe the cop. When I buy I refuse a bill to avoid tax. THAT IS OUR CULTURE> Of constant cheating and deception; to the community I livein; of the society I breed in; of the country that I call mine.

And then I want the police to catch the culprit and jail him. I also want the politican to stay true to his oath! The system that exists to day in this country just does not help yopu to do this.

It’s so very nice feel to
see the citizens of this country take up the issue of corruptionin a big way. They have assembled to support
both Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev, notwithstanindg the many pitfalls the movement went through.
People have protested , written copious pages and made banners and shouted
hoarse against the the biggest evil in the Indian polity and society today.

It sometimes appears as
if all this was just a tamasha for being Bollywood brainwashed, we need a
‘show’ to go and ‘time pass’. We did our bit by ‘being there’ for our friends
and our fading icons and show support. It was the ‘done’ thing and it felt nice
to keep up with the crowds.

Many of us moved on from
that venue to buy a ticket in black to see a movie or bought a pirated DVD or
did some very natural things that come to us like feeling macho when not buying
a ticket in the bus and such like. We have been indulging in this since
childhood. Why? Our parents taught us to drive when we were hardly able to see
out of the window. They smiled proudly when we drove the family car without a
licence; they allowed us to drink when we were not yet ready; they got us the
admission in the colleges paying huge capitation fees. They felt great when
they jumped a red light or were able to ‘fix’ an annoying cop to forget our
little indiscretions.

Forget it my contrymen. Count your blessing each day your wife, child, parent, or sibling or friend is not blown to pieces by a bomb placed by a terrorist. He was not checked properly, or he was not on camera for the camera was not either monitored or functioning [like our traffic lilghts], he was able to get away for he had parked his car that no traffic patrol bothered to check. And the citizens? Well they were busy brining the system to high heaven.

All the policmen were out protecting the politicians and their loved ones.

Mera Bharat mahaan.

Telengana protest seem to have become a regular show like the annual crafts mela or some such. While there are very real arguments on both sides, it is sad to see that the whole state is held to ransom by one or the other group. None of the so called leaders have been able to keep the protest dignified, violenc efree and within limits. So many protests occur all over the world, but it seems this is the only nation that takes such pride in destroying public property. Burning of buses, wrecking of trains, destroying buildings are destruction of wealth of all of us.

People also respect when protests are held in a non-violent manner. Such vast damage to public property is not seen in the mid-east where there are more life altering issues.

The leaders who allow the followers to destroy wealth are not the ones to build any state; they are only interested in personal glory. the events have proved this.

Will our youth wake up to the reality and at least resolve to protest without damage to property and life?

Are they not matured enough to see how they are being manipulated for personal agendas of the leaders?

Is there anyone who wants to see a full page ad in the front page of dailies? I think it is great insult to the newpaper reading public to be forced to see an ad right in the front page. We buy the paper to get news of happenings, sports, business and many other useful and interesting things.

But the ad staring at you from the front page is such a dampner. The sad thing is that even the old established and dailies with some standing have resorted to this unwelcome and iriitating practice. The newpaper seems to have lost its elegance and dignity by this crass commercialism. It is like a salesman who is annoying, aggressive, offensive, uncouth and outright low scum.

It is a shame this has happened when it is neccessary to attract and draw 'readers' to the print media. If the print media wishes to retain its pre eminent postition as the provider of news and knowledge then maybe they need to rethink this strategy of ads at the front page.

The discering reader does not like it. At all.

Why is it that many of us quite willingly take the trouble to attend live performances like music, theatres, talks etc., but just don't pay attention to the performer on stage. We are either busy with our cell phones or keen to gossip with our friend in the adjoing seat.

Besides showing absolutely bad manners and graceless bringing up it distrubs those who may be really keen to listen or see the performance. Further it is a shocking disrespect to the artist who has taken the effort to present something he/she thinks is nice and enjoyable.

By nature being a chattering population our attitude is a sad reflection on our degree or intensity of concern to our fellow men. That is why even the vital issues like corruption etc gets diluted. Because we attended the protest by Anna Hazare or Ramdev because it was a time pass; or because it was a place for where we could go with our friends; or even because some other glamour person was going to be there. that's why the the Swami who died fasting for clean up of the Ganges got no crowd or media.

And as we read reports of the many first rate things being achieved in China or the US, we feel inadequate and retarted due to our inability to have even thught of it.

We really have hardly any achievments to show for our 60 years of trying to bea nation.

When will this change?
