Long Live your Laptop!

Having a laptop is one thing... but being satisfied with its functioning is another thing.

So the question is how many of us are truly proud and satisfied with this machine which we love to place in our lap, oh does it burns hot? Yeah most of do, may be in a year or two but they all turn into heating rods.

So your laptop shuts down in a pretty moody way, doesn't it? I guess most of times it do when you were about to finish and finalize a report on your text editor, or may be you were writing the codes of some program module you were working on. A glitch in your machine and all your unsaved data will be gone like a puff of smoke... and am I missing something? Battery backup? Bingo!!! that's it, apparently every manufacturer, while selling his product promises us that this machine will give you 4-6 hours of Power backup, right? But does this goes this way? I guess not most of these machines started showing “10% power available please plug-in to power source ” within 4-5 months.

Talking about the laptop's shutting down problem we can ponder over these issues, it can be happening due to over heating or due to some virus or worm. How to find out what causing it, try to boot up your laptop again.. if it boots, try to check BIOS and temperatures (if available) see if temperatures increases. and let it run for about 35 - 40 minutes, if it shuts down. I can tell you cent percent that it's not a virus or worm. On the other hand it might be computer virus if it shuts down on your operating system. You may try reinstalling the OS (which will be your final choice)
or buy a good anti virus, avast provides a boot scan.

Over heating problem can be tackled by timely dusting tour laptop with a vacuum cleaner and if problem persists, get it cleaned by a technical service provider. It is always said that prevention is better than care so try that dust doesn't get clogged in your machine by always placing it on some dust free and firm surface, where it get proper ventilation.

About the battery backup problem, how to prevent our battery from getting cranky? There is always debate over, whether keep your laptop always on external power supply or use it on battery when ever it is fully charged.

I'd keep it plugged in. Some laptops like my old Compaq CQ44, have a threshold where the AC doesn't charge the battery at all until it drops below a certain point. I've also read that you extend battery life if you maintain a charge of around 35%. So better check out with your dealer whether your machine is smarten up or not.

On the other hand if your machine is not that smart then you can consider these options :

Proper Charging and Discharging
Environment Temperature

The following are the most played Games on this Halloween which are also available in Indian Market.

Call of Duty : Zombies : It ranked no one, is a first-person shooter video game developed by Ideaworks Game Studio, and published by Activision for iOS. It is a spin-off of the Call of Duty series, and based on the "Zombies" mode of Call of Duty: World at War. The game was released worldwide on November 16, 2009. The game allows for multiplayer cooperative gameplay locally via an ad hoc Wi-Fi or Bluetooth network, or globally via the internet. But restrictions can turn multiplayer off. It will offer purchasable downloadable content in the form of new maps in the future.

The game's setting originally takes place in a German bunker (Nacht der Untoten) during World War II from the viewpoint of a United States Marine. SS soldiers who have become zombies attempt to infiltrate the bunker and attack the player, and the player must defend themselves in the process.

Resident Evile : Ranked 2nd, known in Japan as Biohazard 5 is a survival horror third-person shooter video game developed and published by Capcom. The game is the seventh installment in the Resident Evil survival horror series, and was released on March 5, 2009 in Japan and on March 13, 2009 in North America and Europe for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360and September 2009 for Microsoft Windows. The story of Resident Evil 5 revolves aroundChris Redfield's and Sheva Alomar's investigation of a terrorist threat in Kijuju, a fictional town in Africa.

Dead Space : Ranked 3rd, is a survival horror third-person shooter video game, developed by EA Redwood Shores (now known as Visceral Games) for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was made available on Steam on October 20, 2008. The player takes on the role of an engineer named Isaac Clarke, who battles a virus-like infestation which turns humans into grotesque monsters called "Necromorphs", on board an interstellar mining ship named the USG Ishimura. On August 18, 2011, Electronic Arts released Dead Space on the BlackBerry Playbook.

Left 4 Dead 2 : (abbreviated as L4D2) ranked 4th is a cooperative first-person shooter video game. It is the sequel to Valve Corporation's award-winning Left 4 Dead. The game launched on November 17, 2009, for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 in the United States and November 20 in Europe; in 2010, Left 4 Dead 2 was made available to the Steam client for Mac OS X. It builds upon the cooperatively-focused gameplay of the original and uses Valve's proprietary Source engine, the same game engine used in Left 4 Dead. The game made its world premiere at E3 2009 with a trailer during the Microsoft press event.

Like the original, Left 4 Dead 2 is set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, and focuses on four survivors fighting against hordes of the infected, who develop severe psychosis and exhibit zombie-like tendencies. The survivors must fight their way through levels, interspersed with safe houses that act as checkpoints, with the goal of reaching a rescue vehicle at the campaign's finale. Dead Rising : Ranked 5th, Chop Till You Drop (known in Japan as Dead Rising: Zombie Sacrifice) is an action-adventure video game with RPG elements. The game is a remake of Dead Rising from the ground up for the Wii console. The game was first released on February 19, 2009, in Japan, and later that month in other countries.

Frank West, a photojournalist, journeys to the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado. There, he encounters hordes of zombies and crazed survivors as he attempts to uncover the reason behind the zombie infection.

Silent Hill : Ranked 6th, is a survival horror video game for the PlayStation and the first installment in the Silent Hill series. Published by Konami and developed by Team Silent, a Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo group, the game was released in North America in January 1999, and in Japan and Europe later that year. Silent Hill uses a third-person perspective, with real-time 3D environments. To mitigate limitations of the hardware, developers liberally used fog and darkness to muddle the graphics. Unlike earlier survival horror games that focused on protagonists with combat training, the player character of Silent Hill is an "everyman".

The game follows Harry Mason as he searches for his missing adopted daughter in the series' multiverse, which consists of alternate dimensions based on the series' eponymous fictional American town; stumbling upon a cult conducting a ritual to revive a deity it worships, he discovers her true origin. Five game endings are possible, depending on actions taken by the player, including one joke ending.

BioShock 2 : this last and magically 7th ranker is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2K Marin for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The sequel to the 2007 video game BioShock, it was released worldwide on February 9, 2010.

The game is set in the fictional underwater dystopia of Rapture, in a biopunk/dieselpunk 1968, eight years after the events of BioShock. The protagonist and player-controlled character is a Big Daddy, a being that has had its organs and skin grafted into an atmospheric diving suit. Among the first of its kind, the player-controlled Big Daddy, named Subject Delta, reactivates with no recollection of the past decade's events, and scours the city in an attempt to relocate the Little Sister that he was paired with. Fearing this reunion will ruin her plans for the city, Sofia Lamb sends out her spliced up followers that she calls "The Rapture Family" and new Big Sisters in an attempt to deter Delta.

In 2010, the game was included as one of the titles in the book 1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die
