If one has lived in this country for a good number of years with a good head, he will know that you don't need such exercises, specially so in summer. The great electricity boards ensure that you don't have the power anyways for better part of the day! These fads are redundant, then. NY, Sydney, etc are diferent stories - our cities stand nowhere in comparison.
Unfortunately, fads prevail, for majority always love fuss and spectacle. For the mere excitement of it. Best, anyways!! Big deal with a one-hour voluntary unplug in addition to the compulsive unplug, courtesy the electricity board!

I understand that there are unplugs enforced by electricity board. This excercise is the way of expression that we all are concerned about the cause and to promote judicious use of electricty and energy. Hope I convinced your intelligence.

That a gesture/deed/emotion (referring to "concern") that ought be genuine needs motivation in the form of a mass event itself, ironically, suggests how sunk we, as a group, have become. An hour of hysteria and we go back to living our damn lives - with the same disregard for man and nature that we always practised.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not questioning your passion or concern. I quite appreciate your intent. Only, I don't harbour as much faith in mankind as you do. I put faith in individuals, rather. Mass events never helped any cause. Individuals only did.
Cheers, all the same!
P.S. Intelligence, if it's on at all, never needs to be convinced. Only beliefs, opinions, and ideals need that. :-)
