It is very disturbing to find small school going kids walk barefoot on the filthy and unhygenic roads of the city. These kids are mostly in government and municipal schools and hail from the economically weaker sections. Quite often one finds broken glasses and other materials that could cause serious injury to the kids' tender feet. That would result in infection and much misery; also they wuld be forced to miss school.
thouhg many of us do charity work I feel this needs to be given some more importance for it relates to the health and fitness of the child and feet are vital in one's work life later.
Of course one needs to do it systematically by approaching the school authorites and identify those who are really deserving due to economic reasons. Kids outgrow shoes fast and old shoes in real good condition could be colleted and donated in a graceful and compassionate manner. Care shouldbe taken to see that the parents of the child or the child itself does not feel some kind of embarassment in accepting this gift with love.
Kids from the better of schools would be ideal to undertake this task as they could relate more easily to kids.
I think it is worth a try.
