Innocence was stripped and wiped away
Zigzag thoughts rushing down the hill
I pan the mind and recollect the day
In bright blue flashbacks, when
Innocence was stripped and wiped away
At times the world is beyond my ken
And I begin to fear the end of love
In bright blue flashbacks, when
A plethora of love songs shove
My mind and I blink away the tears
And I begin to fear the end of love
I wished somebody would wipe my fears
And whisper

-----He loved her
And
She loved the rain.
He wanted to read his favourite book,
Sit at the old fashioned chair near the window,
Put his feet on the antique pine wood table
And Read aloud his favourite lines.
Instead....
He stood naked in the rain.
He wanted to drink a glass of wine,
Lie down on the couch in the corner of the room,
Play comfy music on the record player
And watch the rain through the misty wine glass.
Instead....
He stood naked in the rain.
He wanted to light a cigarette,
Stand out under the sunshade in the balcony,
Listen to the sound of rain beating the world,
And watch the cigarette die out.
Instead....
He stood naked in the rain.
He wanted to write a new poem,
write her name on the paper boat,
Fill the buckets with the fresh rain water,
And dedicate the poem to her.
Instead....
He stood naked in the rain.
-----He loves her
And
She loves the rain.

Its reddish colour is tardily vanishing in to a dark brown.
Why the colour does resemble yours so lovingly?
The juices slide inwardly upon the tongue.
The maleficent taste drags on the lips.
He watches a drawn-out TV episode.
Its heroine is growing old too soon.
Why the lady does resemble you so lovingly?
The frames slide one after another on the screen.
The wrinkles on her face are felt nether his eyes.
He listens to a played out tape.
Its music is reversing into perturbing noise.
Why the music does resemble your smile so lovingly?
The tracks slide shakily upon the magnetic head.
The noise matures violently in his ears.
He lies on a worn-out bed.
Its cushion springs are now a mass of metal.
Why the bed does resemble your skin so lovingly?
The body lies still on the bed at rest.
The life slowly breaks away from his body.

Last week, K Balachander was at Suchitra FilmClub, Bangaolre to participate in a discussion about his award winning film Thaneer Thaneer. Here is the transcript of the discussion.
Q & A with K.Balachander.

Q) When Kannada filmmakers like Girish Kasaravalli and Malayalam Directors like Adoor Gopala Krishnan are making films with a conviction and seriousness towards film as an art form, why is it that most Tamil film makers, who are not less talented, are making films using a middle path to the so called safe formula of 'not too commercial not too serious and artistic? What is your opinion about this being a director who followed the same path?
A) The answer for such a long question is actually very simple. It
