The normally unflappable Jefferson Parish Emergency Management Director Walter Maestri broke into tears as he broadcast a call to help for anyone who could offer food or water to officials at the parish's emergency operations center in Marrero.
Maestri said anyone who can help with the necessities of life for workers at the center can call (504) 349-5360.

Harris County and the City of Houston are opening up the Astrodome for those that have been in the Superdome. There are something like 23,000 folks expected to be house d there. Estimates are a minimum stay of 4 weeks with it more likely being four months.
HISD is reporting that they will enroll anyone's children in school here in Houston if they are a shelter.
It is being reported those children will be classified as "homeless" for the purposes of getting free meals.
In addition, HISD is waving the requirement to of an immunization record for the next 30 days to facilitate enrollment.
